03 / HUMAN-CENTERED DESIGN

Human-centered design

A method for learning from people, testing ideas with them, and refining what is useful in context.

OVERVIEW

Start with people

Human-centered design begins with understanding the people affected by a challenge. Designers listen and observe, generate and test ideas, then refine what works with feedback from the people who will use or experience the result. The process is iterative rather than a one-way checklist (IDEO.org, 2015).
